Have you noticed that when you go into the store today the clothes look a little...well... like they are straight out of the 80's? Jean skirts with leggings underneath, leg warmers, polka dots. I am just waiting until they bring back hammer pants, I can so see the twins in some.
It took us until the middle of the 90's to figure out that the 80's were a bad idea, and yet here we are again not quite 20 years later going back to the same ole thing.
Could it get any worse?
Well yes, they could bring back 80's hair.
- Hair that requires a whole can of hair spray each and every morning.
- Antenna bangs, mullets, straight on top and curly on the sides.
- Crimped hair.
- Great big, gigantic hairbows.
- And my personal favorite, wearing it pulled back on one side with one of those fancy bows and done on the other, all while your bangs are sprayed high enough to reach the moon.
I was going to do it - I really thought about it. I chickened out.
But go see what she's got linked up
Okay so I saw a girl at Grant's school today...with CRIMPED HAIR!! I thought...heck ya I can pull that off Cyndi Lauper style....I am thinking of running out and getting one! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy babysitter wears her hair pulled to the side. She is a gorgeous girl. I want to counsel her but who am I in my yoga pants and no makeup?
ReplyDeleteHammer pants ARE back! Seriously not even kidding. I wanted to cry when I saw it. As long as frosted baby blue eye shadow (with shimmer) doesn't come back, I think we'll all be ok. Maybe...
ReplyDeleteDon't thin I will be wearing the leggings or the neon colored clothes! Ahh...
ReplyDeleteOhhh dear. I saw leg warmers in the Target ad on Sunday and whined about it to my hubby who of course couldn't have cared less. The 80's are one era that should not be brought back.
ReplyDeleteI just hope the rubber bracelets and neon colors don't come back and let's not forget the hairspray from the 80's.
ReplyDeleteOh, I remember when the big bangs of the 80's somehow morphed into the side wings of the 90's. How the heck did people think that they looked good in those hairstyles?
ReplyDeleteDon't blame you for chickening out!
It's awful. I can't stand the teenagers with the crayon colored skinny jeans. They do NOT look good.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but crimped hair sounds like a horror story to me. And I don't think it's only my problem :)
ReplyDeletehahahaaa!! i keep wondering why they would bring back such a fashion challenged time, but hey, it makes for great blog fodder!! lol....
ReplyDeletei love 80s fashions. i still wear leggings and bright pink {not day-glo though, i won't go that far back}. i am really excited to wear black tights with shorts when it gets cooler. that style is all over the pages of JCrew and in the fashion mags. take care.
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting for crimped hair to come back...cause I looked like a white Diana Ross...it was awesome.
ReplyDeleteSome of the 80's styles are tolerable, even cute, when worn by people of the right age (i.e. under 30). Leggings under a denim skirt are a blessing to parents of elementary school aged girls who spend recess dangling from the monkey bars. Leg warmers can be cute and keep the legs warm on those girls who won't wear pants. MC Hammer Pants, however, have never, and will never be okay -- period. The one that absolutely kills me the most, and is back this season with a vengeance is STIRRUP-PANTS. WTF? This was one of the worst fashion items for women ever! And partnered up with checked flannel shirts with shoulder pads? Nauseating!
ReplyDeleteCOOL! I KNEW I hung onto these mall bangs for all these years for a reasons! Quirky is the new cool!
ReplyDeleteJust do it!

I had some really bad hair... and it wasn't even the 80's! We want to see yours.
