Why does that matter?

Have seven year olds, have questions.  That is the story of my life right now.  Only problem is the latest question is beginning to get on my nerves.

T1: Why isn't there school today?
Me: Because it is a holiday.
T1: Why does that matter?

T1: Why do I have to feed the dogs?  I fed them last night.
Me: Because I am taking care of your brother.
T1: Why does that matter?

T1: Can I have dessert?
Me: No, if you are still hungry there is food left from dinner.
T1: Why does that matter?

Me: You're game may be cancelled tonight.
T1: Why?
Me: Because the fields are very wet from the rain.
T1: Why does that matter?

What does your child say to get on your nerves?

  2. Oh that would be annoying. Why does only T1 say it and not T2 or did you just not write that?

  6. Do the classic answer-a-question-with-a-question and say, "I don't know, what do you think?" My 2 year old is constantly (when I say constantly, I mean constantly) saying, "What dat?!"

  7. Why do you ask? What does that matter?

Hahahaha. Just in case you did not hear that enough today.

Right now during spring break it's the dreaded "What are we going to do today?" like I am there cruise director.

  9. If James pauses long enough to ask me a question, it usually, "Mamma, why does- insert some physics question that is impossible to answer in 4 year old terms.

  10. Oh yeah, I could see how that would work your nerves after awhile.

Next time he says that, ask him, "I don't know...why do you think it matters?" every single time he says it. I bet he'll stop shortly after that!
